All About The Trinity

when jesus was about to die, he showed who his superior was by praying: "father, if you wish, remove this cup from me.

the one god is eternal (has always existed and always will), immortal (his divine nature cannot die), omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (he is everywhere at the same time), god is the only one who can read human hearts and minds, god cannot sin and cannot lie, god does not change his morals or his nature.

the trinity is not one person revealed three different ways (this is what "oneness pentecostals" believe).

God is the Only One who can read human hearts and minds

Gen 3:11

And he[God] said, Who told thee that thou [wast] naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

God cannot sin and cannot lie, God does not change His morals or His Nature.

Exd 32:14

this reminds me of a recent scam I participated in and had the pleasure of making $80.00

In orlando florida there are plenty of booths which will tell you you can get free disney tickets or even $80 in cash if you are simply willing to endure a 90min time share presentation.

I had no intention of buying, but kept an open mind to the possibilities..... just like someone taking the JWs bait.... I attended my first meeting...

they carefully showed how what I would normally spend during vacations would be about the same as this deal, but I would be the proud owner of my own week's worth of luxury time share in a very plush and outstanding accomodation...and for a nominal fee I could even switch out to other such places around the country.....

their logic seemed right, their presentation seemed to make sense.... but when it came time to close, I told them I had to run it by my accountant... at which point I was treated to a thug who seemed straight out of the Soprano's who tried to muscle me and intimidate me into a deal right then and there.... I held my ground and blew him off....got my $80.00 but something bothered me so I got out my calculator [part of my cell phone] and did some quick math....

I do not know how they did it but they made me believe they really had a good deal for me...but when I did the math, I found out that it only became a good deal after about 40 years.... Their questions were very much like JWs -- how much is paradise [luxury condo] worth to you? and the works aspect [mortgage payments] is carefully hidden in flowery language.....

it was a most impressive con job.... but atleast you do get what they claim, even if its a lot more expensive and not nearly as good as they make it out to be.... where as with JWs, you are likely to discover that you wasted time effort and money for nothing.

john 10:28 - 30 and i give them everlasting life, and they will by no means ever be destroyed, and no one can snatch them out of my hand.what my father has given me is something greater than all other things, and no one can snatch them out of the hand of the father.

after 14 years of being out of JWs and 10 years of being a non-christian, and looking at the bible as a disinterested person, my conclusion is still that the trinity is pure BS.

1. there are three visions by people claiming to look into heaven. Daniel, Stephen, and John... all three to me show exactly the same thing, namely ONE who is seen as GOD alone, and another who Daniel calls the son of MAN, Stephen calls Jesus on the right hand of GOD and John sees as the Lamb who approaches the throne of the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY as the lion of JUDAH... there are only two beings mentioned in all there cases, only ONE of these is seen as GOD and spoken of as GOD.... they say a picture is worth a thousand words but what are visions worth? then there is the point that in revelations the holy spirit is spoken of as 7 bowls of fire and the seven eyes of God, which seems a direct reference to the seven angels of God mentioned in the hebrew bible as the eyes of God which rove the earth.... there is no person ever seen in any vision as the holy ghost.

2. since most people accept as fact that the jews were among the few who had no trinity concept at all, there is an odd absence in that there is no one explaining this change of the nature of God to anyone in the bible anywhere... trinitarians assume different texts are proofs of the trinity that they already believe in, but no one in the bible ever taught them the trinity. the trinity is always a teaching outside the bible by people who already believe in it... this absence screams out to anyone who looks from a jewish point of view for the teacher of the trinity within the bible

3. the only verse which discusses the nature of God in context of other gods in the greek scripture as far as I can find is 1 cor 8:5-6, all others are out of context when it come to this topic.... and this verse quite clearly says that to us [believers], there is but ONE who is GOD, the father.

4. the verses that trinitarians are always saying proves their belief are always out of context when it comes to who god is. not one of them are about someone teaching someone else.

i am not a jw but my mother-in-law is.

since the day her son proposed to me (he is not a jw) she has made my life a living hell.

we have been married for just over a year and have a beautiful baby girl.

hebrew does not use vowels, so El is actually Aleph Lamed, where Aleph is not quite an Ah but more of a choking gutteral noise... making El sound like someone with dry heaves.... leading to my theory that he was first worshipped the morning after the invention of beer

since being da'd a few years back i haven't had any real contact with my jw family.

i've accepted this and moved on, just like most of us have.

just recently i've been contacted by them whenever they need something.

when someone else is ill, there is no reason for you to act ill towards them.... JWs are infected by a Meme or mental virus which clouds their judgements and makes them sometimes do really silly and harmful things...but when they are cured, they will thank you for being their during their time of need.

i was just reading the thread "questions on the generation teaching", and someone mentioned the 1995 watchtower article where is said this:rather than provide a rule for measuring time, the term "generation" as used by jesus refers principally to contemporary people of a certain historical period, with their identifying characteristics.. .

what i'm wondering is, has the wts mentioned the word "generation" since this article?

are they sticking to this explanation in any way, shape, or form?

the zealous 7th day adventists were not wrong, Jesus did actually return in 1844, I mean 1874, I mean 1914...but invisibily, and while this was not decerned by them, many of them have come to understand it..... so too the valiant Jehovah's witnesses were not mistaken, the tribulation and armeggedon did come, in 1975, but it too was invisible.

and those who survived through this spiritual war were rewarded with significant strengthening of their spiritual armor...and now that the 1000 years has spritually begun, we must remain faithful so as to pass that final test, 1000 years from now.

so no more worries about nearness of dates.

Do you ever feel like a member of the XJW cult??

what i specifically mean, is, sometimes do you feel frustrated that you are bound to xjw things / topics / issues?

once an xjw, always an anti jw type thing?

since leaving the organization in 2002 i've done a pretty good job of moving on, making "worldy" friends, met up w/ some wonderful xjw's (princess and family), and really don't think too much about how much pain jw's have caused me.....but every now and then i find myself compelled to read this board for hours...look up new teachings that make no sense......so in a way i feel forever bound to the xjw world....which i'm not sure is a good thing or a bad thing.

depending on how long you were in, there is a lot of brain wiring devoted to JW and bible things....they are after all very powerful social engineers....so no matter how long out, activating those old programs is going to be like activating those old addiction programs and habits....like the smoker who has not touched a cig in years and then suddenly finds one lit in his mouth....it feels like only a moment has transpired over all those years.... one of the reason many children leave JWs as rebellious teens and end up back in as devoted parents later down the road...especially those who never took the time to investigate other views.

I still like arguing the trinity with the standard christians even though I have no stake in it any more as I now view the bible as nothing more than mythology of the hebrew persuasion.
